Make Believe Bombs/Color Rabbit - Split Cassette - $4.50
Release Date: June 2011
Quantity: 50 tapesSome nightglow adventures await you on this near-hour-long ancient-astronaut art exhibit at your local tape deck or portable walkman. Make Believe Bombs spits out a single half-hour track to cover the first side, ranging from black-hole glittering rock sequences to brain melodies that float, to ambiance with loops in the emptiest space in the middle of all eternity. Ends hopeful and quiet / loud. Then, Color Rabbit comes in brimming with forever-optimism, more pop-oriented than usual maybe but still way into fun and improvisation, bringing a wide-eyed starry density overflowing with just … NICE ONE-ness. 8 solid tracks that alternately rock, build and grow from simple flute loop seeds, ice skate on the surface of your consciousness, and finally get you high and gently drop you back down to the ground. Wonderfull cup. The tapes themselves are painted in glow-in-the-dark paint and have full-color jcards and inserts, and, coupled with the larger volume than usual, explain the somewhat higher than usual prices I have listed. BUT IT’LL BE WORTH IT, this is a sweet and dank slab with some really varied styles.

Indoor Voices - After (feat. Sandra Vu of SISU)
Some time ago, Toronto shoegazer Jonathan Relph ”asked Sandra to play drums on a song (‘If I Die’). It never happened, so I was able to use that as leverage to guilt her into singing on this song.” Here’s the product of that relationship - a song that I’ve been sitting on, regretfully, far too long. Ethereal, spaced-out swirls of hypnotic vocals layered on a dream-pop melody.

Devin Dart - Mint Spring Silver - $4.50
Quantity: 30 tapesWhile it’s surely a boundless source of untapped brilliance and under-the-radar masterpieces going for $5 a pop, the world of left-field “tape music” is often a terribly serious one—all deep, stone-faced drones and cosmic soul-searching; in other words, not a whole lot of “fun”. Thank God, then, for Devin Dart, whose new Mint Spring Silver cassette is a goofy, schizoid melting pot of “jazz-punk sci-fi improv” that won’t leave you you stewing in an existential crisis. One of the least nonsensically-titled tracks on the release (see: “Haha whoa dude did you know yer fingers are made of lightning”), “Now, I Elevate” comes crashing forth with thunderous drums, brightly-humming synths, and indecipherable noise. It’s loud, triumphant, and yes—fun.
Tracklist:
